Gordon
Gibb... is a Buddhist teacher and co-founder of Spacious Mind

Gordon graduated with a Psychology and Religion double major
from Ashland University in Ohio in 1973. Following graduation,
Gordon served as a staff person and minister to high school
youth in Cleveland, Ohio with the evangelical non-denominational
Christian organization, Young Life. After four years of service
with the organization, Gordon left Young Life and the conservative
theological boundaries of evangelical Christianity. For the
next two years, he served as an Interim Associate Minister of
a Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) church in suburban
Cleveland. In 1979, Gordon moved to Boston, Massachusetts to
complete his Masters of Divinity degree at Andover Newton Theological
School -a degree that he had started while working with Young
Life. Upon graduation, Gordon was ordained in the UCC and served
UCC churches in the Midwest and in the Los Angeles area.
In early 1995, after twenty years of service in Christian ministry,
Gordon left the Christian Church and became a Buddhist practitioner
and teacher. After two years of training in Fo Guang Shan Buddhist
monastery in southern Taiwan, for seven years he co-directed
the English Buddhism Department for Hsi Lai Temple in the Los
Angeles area. Gordon left in the summer of 2002 to co-found
Spacious Mind Learning and Retreat Center, located on the campus
of Chapman University, in the city of Orange.
